Spring Sports Prepare to Hit the Road for NCHSAA Post Season

As the 2012 seasons for Surry Central's spring sports teams are winding down, the focus is beginning to point to NCHSAA post season play. The 2A Men's Individual Tennis Midwest Regionals begin tomorrow afternoon at the Bingham Tennis Center in Lexington, and the Golden Eagles will send two Doubles teams to compete. Luke Haymore/Colby Chilton (#2 in NW2A) and Zach Wilmoth/Trent Day (#3 in NW2A) will be two of the conference's three representatives facing teams from the Central Carolina, Rocky River, and Mountain Valley Conferences. The event begins at 2:00pm tomorrow and runs thru Saturday.

The NCHSAA 2A Midwest Mens Golf Regional for Teams and Individuals will be held Monday at Cross Creek Country Club in Mt. Airy. Play is scheduled to begin at 8:30am with Teams teeing off first followed by Individuals. Ryan High and Dillon Carter will represent Surry Central in the Individual competition.

Girls Soccer (#2 in NW2A) will begin play on the road next week, probably on Wednesday, at the PAC-6 Conference's #2 seed. The Lady Eagles (15-7, 6-5) are red hot having won 8 of 10 entering tonight's regular season finale at East Surry. Sophomore Haylee Harrison leads the team with 23 goals while Maddie White (11 goals, 3 assists) and Sarah Bruce (6 goals, 10 assists) have also helped power the offense.

Regional play in Softball and Baseball begins next Friday, May 11. Baseball (13-12, 8-6) enters tonight's conference tournament semi-final game at West Stokes on a four-game winning streak after yesterday's 4-3 walk-off win against North Surry. The team has rebounded solidly from a seven-game losing streak and will be the league's #2 2A seed. Like Girls Soccer and Softball, Baseball will open Regional play on the road at the #2 PAC-6 team. Softball (13-11, 8-6) has also played well in the second half, winning 9 of 13 and coming within a strike of advancing to tomorrow's Conference Tournament championship game.

Eagles Prepared for Senior Night Rematch with South Stokes

After a long season for the Lady Eagles Soccer team, it is finally coming to an end. Tonight is the last home game of the season, and for four Seniors it will be the last game on the Surry Central Soccer Field. Reba Stanley, Kayla Feeney, Kolina Marsh, and Maddie White will be honored during Senior Night ceremonies before tonight's 6:00 game with South Stokes.

The Lady Eagles (14-7, 5-5) lost an earlier match at South Stokes 4-0 back on March 27, so revenge will be on the team's minds as well. Tonight will be another tough battle, but the Eagles are looking to play their best and come away with the W!
